Review Complaints & Defamation Notices

Virgin Hair Directory takes complaints about reviews seriously.

If you believe a review published on VirginHairDirectory.com is fake, misleading, unlawful, defamatory, infringes your rights or otherwise breaches our Review Policy, you can ask us to investigate it.

A complaint does not automatically mean that a review will be removed.

Virgin Hair Directory will consider the information and evidence available before making a moderation decision.

Reporting a Review

You may report a review if you reasonably believe that it:

  • Is fake or fabricated.
  • Was submitted by somebody who was not a genuine customer.
  • Was submitted by a competitor or somebody connected with the vendor.
  • Contains fabricated evidence.
  • Contains AI-generated or materially altered images presented as genuine evidence.
  • Contains another person’s private information.
  • Contains threatening, abusive or unlawful material.
  • Infringes copyright or another legal right.
  • Contains a serious false factual allegation.
  • Is defamatory.
  • Otherwise breaches the Virgin Hair Directory Review Policy.

Where appropriate, we may contact the reviewer and ask them to provide additional information or evidence.

We may temporarily restrict or remove a review while a serious complaint is investigated.

A vendor cannot require Virgin Hair Directory to remove a genuine review simply because it is negative or because the vendor disagrees with the reviewer’s opinion.

Defamation Complaints

If you believe that a statement contained in a review is defamatory of you or your business, please clearly state that you are submitting a Defamation Notice of Complaint.

To allow us to deal with the complaint properly, please provide:

  • Your full name.
  • Your email address.
  • The name of the business concerned, where applicable.
  • The exact review or statement you are complaining about.
  • A link to the page where the statement appears.
  • An explanation of why you believe the statement is defamatory.
  • The meaning you believe the statement communicates about you or your business.

  • Any opinions in the review that you believe are unsupported by fact.
  • Any evidence supporting your complaint.
  • Confirmation of whether you have enough information to identify the person who posted the review for the purpose of bringing proceedings against them.
  • Confirmation of whether you consent to Virgin Hair Directory providing your name to the reviewer.
  • Confirmation of whether you consent to Virgin Hair Directory providing your email address to the reviewer.

Please provide enough detail for us to identify the review and understand the complaint.

What Happens After a Defamation Complaint

Where a complaint falls within the procedure under section 5 of the Defamation Act 2013 and the Defamation (Operators of Websites) Regulations 2013, Virgin Hair Directory will deal with it in accordance with the applicable statutory procedure.

This may include contacting the person who posted the review, requesting a response, restricting or removing the review where required and communicating with the complainant.

Where the statutory procedure applies, specific time limits may apply.

Incomplete Defamation Notices

If you send us a complaint alleging defamation but do not provide all the information required for a formal Notice of Complaint, we may contact you and explain what additional information is required.

Reviewer Information

Virgin Hair Directory will not automatically disclose a reviewer’s private information simply because a vendor requests it.
